Opening a PDF in eSPACE opens internally instead of via your browser or another third party PDF viewer (like Adobe Reader)
Previously when a User requested a PDF, eSPACE would send the PDF to their browser, like a file. Depending on how the browser was configured it could prompt for the PDF to be downloaded with the following options:
- Save
- Open with the User's browser or the browser's built-in PDF reader
- Open with Adobe Reader or other third party PDF viewer
If the User was on a mobile device, eSPACE would automatically switch over to a browser and possibly open in the browser's built-in PDF reader. This has been a very cumbersome process, and difficult to get back to the eSPACE mobile web app.
With the Internal eSPACE PDF Viewer, the process of requesting a PDF is much easier!
Now, eSPACE renders the PDF natively, in a page that looks just like a PDF viewer. There is no need to first download it to view it, but if the user still wants a downloaded version, they can do so along with many other options (see below). This new behavior eliminates any variance in configurations between users, browsers, and computers or mobile devices.
Users have the following options within the Internal eSPACE PDF Viewer on Mobile Devices
- Open
- Download
- Go to First or Last Page
- Rotate PDF Clockwise or Counterclockwise
- Text or Hand Selection
- Scrolling Options
- Spread Options
In the Desktop version of eSPACE, Users have the following options within the Internal eSPACE PDF Viewer:
- Switch to Presentation Mode
- Download
- Go to First or Last Page
- Rotate PDF Clockwise or Counterclockwise
- Text or Hand Selection
- Scrolling Options
- Spread Options
- Navigate Pages
- Search
- Toggle Sidebar
- Zoom
