Indicate an Event is Virtual!

I second Beckie's comment. Also, making the meeting link a required field on the details page is problematic for us. Is there any way to make this not a required field? We may not always know the link but want to reserve the dates/times.

After working with this feature, I’ve actually found it to be more troublesome than I’d originally considered. We have events that are going virtual only temporarily, but if we change an event to “Virtual,” the entire event is marked virtual. It would be more useful if we could mark individual occurrences as virtual while keeping others as in-person events. I am considering ditching the “Virtual” tag altogether and handling these events by creating a Resources with multiple inventories: one for Zoom, one for Teams, one for Website, and one that simply says “Online” or “Virtual.” This eliminates the annoying required Virtual link and also enables us to mark some occurrences as being online without changing the entire event to Virtual.

This is great for new events, how do we use it for existing events.  I have seen if I change the details page for something that has been happening all year, it will change everything from when it first started.  I would like it for now through May.  I tried doing a schedule - the schedule doesn't offer virtual.

If it helps, this is what we did for a workaround... We allow people to put a fake placeholder URL in that field in order to get past the details page, then they can choose their individual room on the 'spaces" page. images below:

Yes, that’s essentially what we’re going to do too, Angela. Except I don’t think we’re going to bother using the “Virtual” designation so we don’t run into issues with some occurrences being virtual and others not. When we were using the Virtual designation, we just had people use our main website as a placeholder Virtual URL.

Thank you for adding this Virtual feature; it is very helpful. It would be even better if that required "Virtual Meeting Link" could be a clickable link on the public calendar. :) Appreciate all you're doing to help us adapt to the TEMPORARY normal!
