In our continuous effort to ensure the highest security standards and protect your data, we are making an important update to eSPACE. Starting December 15th, eSPACE will no longer support TLS (Transport Layer Security) versions 1.0 and 1.1.
Why This Change Is Necessary
TLS is a technology that keeps internet connections secure and protects sensitive data transmitted between two systems. Imagine TLS as a protective tunnel that shields your data from prying eyes.
However, just like old software, older versions of TLS (1.0 and 1.1) are vulnerable to attacks and can't provide the level of security we require. Therefore, we are moving to support only TLS versions 1.2 and higher, which are much more secure and can safeguard your information against modern threats.
Impact on FACILITeSPACE Users
If you use FACILITeSPACE- INFOSPACE to display event-related content on smart TVs or other devices, this update is particularly important. Some older smart TVs may not support TLS 1.2 or higher, which means they might not be able to connect to eSPACE once we make this necessary update.
What You Need to Do
- Check if your display supports TLS 1.2 or higher. You can do this by using any device with a web browser to navigate to the following URL: https://tinyurl.com/yc5vh27b. This link leads to a secure site that will evaluate your device's TLS capabilities. If the page does not show the following in the "Protocol Support" section, then your display will likely no longer show INFOSPACE content once we turn off the older, riskier TLS versions.
- If your display does not support the newer TLS versions, you may need to:
- Update the firmware of your smart TV. Please refer to the manufacturer's instructions for guidance on updating your specific model.
- If an update is not available or does not resolve the issue, you may need to consider upgrading to a newer display or using an HDMI plug-in device like a Roku stick or ChromeTV, which can provide the necessary security support.
We understand this change may require action on your part, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation in keeping eSPACE secure for everyone.
